Nigeria’s national power grid has suffered its first major collapse in 2025, just ten days into the new year.

The collapse has caused a nationwide blackout, leaving Nigerians in distress.

This marks the 13th grid failure in the last 13 months.

According to reports, power generation plummeted from 2,111.01 megawatts at 2 p.m. to 390.20 megawatts by 3 p.m.

The Energy Podcast confirmed the incident, stating, “National grid suffers major collapse… First in 2025.”

An update added, “Restoration has begun… Currently generating 302 MW as of 2:40 p.m.”
