Obi urges Ohanaeze leadership to promote Nigeria’s peace and unity
The Labour Party’s 2023 Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, has urged the newly elected leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, led by Senator John Azuta Mbata, to promote peace and unity in Nigeria.
Obi conveyed this message in a congratulatory post on his verified X handle on Sunday.
He called on the new leadership to use their mandate, rooted in the people’s trust, to strengthen the Igbo community and foster national unity.
Obi stated, “On behalf of my family and the Obedient movement, I congratulate Senator John Azuta-Mbata, the newly elected President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo; Deputy President General Prince Okey Nwadinobi; Secretary-General Emeka Sibeudu, and the other executives on their emergence as leaders of this noble organization.
“Their election reflects the confidence and hope people have in their leadership abilities and dedication to the progress of the region and the nation.
“I pray they will utilize their new roles to work for the peace and unity of our country and contribute significantly to ideas that foster development, peace, and progress.
“May God grant them the wisdom and strength to serve the people. A New Nigeria remains Possible.”
This follows the recent election of new Ohanaeze executives after the death of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyawu, the previous President General.
