Security forces thwart kidnapping attempt, eliminate 7 bandits in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command reported that its operatives successfully thwarted a bandit attack on Ruwan Doruwa village in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State. During the operation, seven suspected bandits were neutralized, and 61 cows, 44 sheep, two donkeys, one goat, and one dog were recovered.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Sadiq Abubakar, the incident occurred on January 18, 2025, at around 9:00 AM. A distress call was received at the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters, indicating that suspected bandits, armed with weapons including AK-47 rifles, were attacking the village.

In response, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), in collaboration with the military, DSS, members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KTSCWC), and local vigilantes, swiftly mobilized a team to the scene.

Upon arrival, the security team engaged the bandits in a fierce gunfight, resulting in the neutralization of seven armed suspects, while others fled with injuries, leaving behind the rustled animals.

The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, praised the operatives for their bravery, professionalism, and dedication. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring public safety and security.

CP Musa also urged residents to continue supporting law enforcement efforts by providing timely and valuable information to aid in the fight against crime in the state.
