Trump becomes 47th US President, opposes transgender policies, illegal immigration
Donald Trump was officially inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on Monday in a historic ceremony held inside the Capitol Rotunda due to inclement weather. The event marked the start of Trump’s second term in office, with an agenda that promises sweeping reforms in areas including gender policies, border control, trade, and energy.
Stance on Gender Policies
In his inaugural address, Trump announced that his administration would recognize only two genders, male and female, rejecting the inclusion of transgender, non-binary, and other gender identities.
“This week, I will end the government policy of engineering race and gender into every aspect of public and private life. From now on, the official policy of the United States government will acknowledge only two genders: male and female,” Trump declared.
Economic and Trade Reforms
Trump unveiled plans to overhaul the nation’s trade system with the introduction of an “External Revenue Service” to impose tariffs on foreign countries, shifting the economic burden away from U.S. taxpayers.
“Instead of taxing our citizens to enrich other countries, we will tariff and tax foreign nations to benefit American workers and families,” he stated.
He also pledged to revitalize America’s manufacturing sector by capitalizing on the nation’s oil and gas reserves.
“America will be a manufacturing powerhouse once again. We’ll use our liquid gold—oil and gas—to reduce energy prices, replenish reserves, and export energy worldwide. The Green New Deal will be terminated, and the electric vehicle mandate revoked to protect our auto industry,” Trump added.
Border Control and Immigration
Declaring a national emergency at the southern border, Trump outlined aggressive measures to combat illegal immigration.
“All illegal entry will be stopped immediately. Millions of criminal aliens will be returned to their countries. The Remain in Mexico policy will be reinstated, and catch-and-release practices will end. Troops will secure the border to repel this invasion,” he said.
Trump further announced plans to classify drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations and invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to dismantle criminal networks.
Focus on Crime, Inflation, and Efficiency
The president emphasized a crackdown on crime, leveraging federal and state resources to eradicate gang activity. He also introduced the creation of a Department of Government Efficiency to streamline operations and tackle inflation, promising significant measures to reduce the cost of living.
“As commander-in-chief, my highest duty is to defend our nation against threats and invasions,” Trump emphasized.
Reforming Healthcare and Education
Addressing inadequacies exposed by recent natural disasters, Trump criticized the state of the nation’s healthcare and education systems. He promised comprehensive reforms to improve both sectors.
Symbolic Leadership and Resilience
Reflecting on an assassination attempt during his campaign, Trump described his survival as a divine sign of his mission to “make America great again.”
“I am here today because this country has a purpose. Together, we will achieve greatness,” he declared.
Transition of Power and Ceremony Highlights
The inauguration was attended by lawmakers, dignitaries, and Trump’s family. Vice President JD Vance took the oath of office in a ceremony presided over by Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Earlier in the day, Trump and former First Lady Melania Trump met with outgoing President Joe Biden and former First Lady Jill Biden, continuing the tradition of a peaceful transition of power.
At a pre-inauguration rally, Trump addressed his supporters, promising to pardon January 6 defendants and issue executive orders on his first day in office.
Vision for the Future
Despite the freezing temperatures, Trump delivered his speech with confidence, outlining an ambitious vision for the nation. “Our future is bright, and our mission is clear. Together, we will rebuild, restore, and ensure America’s greatness,” he concluded.
The inauguration marked a significant moment in U.S. history, setting the tone for a presidency defined by bold reforms and an unwavering commitment to Trump’s vision for the country.
