Former Deputy Senate President and APC governorship candidate for Delta State in the 2023 general elections, Ovie Omo-Agege, has dismissed circulating rumors suggesting he plans to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement released on Tuesday by his media adviser, Sunny Areh, Omo-Agege described the claims as groundless, attributing them to speculative journalism with no factual basis.

“The bizarre report alleges that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who served as the Deputy President of the Senate in the 9th Assembly, is plotting to abandon the APC and join forces with Mallam Nasir el-Rufai to create a so-called new political party. This story is not only absurd but utterly ridiculous,” the statement read.

Omo-Agege emphasized that the APC achieved its best-ever performance in Delta State during the 2023 elections under his leadership.

The party secured two out of three senatorial seats, and despite losing the governorship race, he attributed the defeat to manipulation rather than lack of support.

He dismissed any association with a political initiative reportedly linked to the former Kaduna State governor as pure fiction.

He further stated that the story was a deliberate attempt by certain political actors to create discord between him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to Omo-Agege, these individuals are using fabricated stories as a strategy to undermine his influence and the APC.

The senator reaffirmed his dedication to the APC and his determination to deliver on his vision for Delta State in the 2027 elections.

“As the leader of the APC in Delta State, and having achieved historic results in the 2023 general elections, I am fully committed to the mission of rescuing Delta State from the cycle of failed administrations.

My resolve remains unwavering,” Omo-Agege concluded.
