BREAKING: Governor Adeleke defects to Accord Party
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has officially adopted the Accord Party as his new political home ahead of the 2026 governorship election. He made the declaration at the Government House in Osogbo on Tuesday, alongside top national and state party officials.
Adeleke disclosed that he quietly joined the Accord Party on November 6, 2025, after holding several consultations with key stakeholders across the state. His spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said the governor’s supporters already understood the reasons for the shift.
According to Adeleke, the Accord Party’s emphasis on welfarism matches the core principles of his administration, which prioritizes the well-being of citizens and workers. He called for unity within the party as preparations intensify for next year’s election, urging members to remain cohesive and committed to collective success.
He praised the Accord Party’s people-centered philosophy, saying it aligns with his belief that government must always focus on citizens’ welfare. Adeleke reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving lives through policies that centre on public well-being.
Presenting Accord as the new political vehicle for Osun, he appealed to residents across Osun West, East, and Central to support the party. Listing communities from Igbomina to Ijeshaland, Ede, Ikirun, Osogbo, and others, he described the platform as the state’s path to victory in August 2026.
Adeleke ended by formally announcing his political move, saying the decision reflects the wishes of stakeholders and the broader Osun populace.
