Davido’s Wedding Celebration: Governor Adeleke Travels to the U.S. to Join the Family Event
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has traveled to the United States to attend the highly anticipated wedding of his nephew and global music star, David Adeleke, better known as Davido.
The music icon had earlier confirmed that he and his wife, Chioma Avril Rowland, will be holding their white wedding in Miami, Florida, in August 2025. The announcement came during his interview on The Breakfast Club, aired on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
The governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, confirmed Adeleke’s trip in a statement released on Tuesday. His remarks followed concerns from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), who had questioned the governor’s whereabouts.
“Governor Adeleke left Nigeria for the United States via the family’s private jet a few days ago to celebrate with his nephew, Davido, on this joyful occasion,” Rasheed said. “His Excellency extends an open invitation to the opposition to join the event and share in the celebration with the Adeleke family. Those unable to attend physically may join virtually.”
Rasheed also pointed out that since assuming office in November 2022, the governor has not taken any official vacation. He described this trip as brief, with the governor maintaining regular communication with his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, who is currently overseeing state affairs.
Meanwhile, the Osun APC criticized the governor’s absence, claiming it was done without public notice or formal handover of responsibilities to his deputy. In a statement, the party questioned why residents had been left in the dark, calling the move “abnormal” and demanding clarity on who is currently in charge.
Despite the political back-and-forth, it seems Governor Adeleke remains focused on family, even while ensuring state duties are not neglected during his short trip.
