The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has launched a four-day training program for officers of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission. The program, which began on Monday at the EFCC Academy in Karu, Abuja, is designed to enhance the officers’ investigative and analytical capacities in combating financial crimes. According to a statement shared on the EFCC’s X handle on Tuesday, the training focuses on financial crimes investigation and investigative report writing—key components in the fight against corruption and economic crimes.
During his address to participants, the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, underscored the importance of equipping anti-corruption officers with essential skills. Assistant Commander of the EFCC, Aliyu Wali, who heads the External Cooperation Unit, highlighted the significance of regional collaboration in combating transnational financial crimes. “This training is not only about enhancing investigative skills but also serves as a platform to exchange ideas, strategies, and best practices,” Wali noted, emphasizing the power of international cooperation within Africa.
Dr. Miatta Jeh, who led the Liberian delegation, expressed deep gratitude to the EFCC and the Nigerian government for their hospitality and commitment to strengthening Liberia’s fight against corruption. “We deeply appreciate this collaboration and the effort shown by the EFCC in equipping us with the skills to combat corruption more effectively in Liberia,” she said, commending the initiative’s scope and depth.
The training covers various essential areas, including financial investigation techniques, financial intelligence, asset tracing, interviewing techniques in financial crimes, financial data analysis, and general report writing. The EFCC expressed confidence in achieving the program’s goals, noting that the expertise of the resource persons would significantly contribute to equipping participants with the necessary tools to tackle corruption and economic crimes effectively.
