Excitement in Jos as APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Visits Plateau State

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, received a warm and enthusiastic welcome on Wednesday during his first official visit outside Abuja since taking office.

His visit to Jos, Plateau State—though labeled a private one—sparked widespread excitement among party loyalists and residents alike. As early as 8 a.m., crowds began gathering at Yakubu Gowon Airport, eager to catch a glimpse of the new party leader. By the time his flight landed at about 1 p.m., the airport was buzzing with energy.

According to a statement by Shittu Bamaiyi, the Plateau State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Professor Yilwatda arrived aboard a private airline, accompanied by an impressive delegation that included six state governors, senators, and National Assembly members.

He was received by Plateau APC Chairman Rt. Hon. Rufus Bature, the party’s Working Committee, Elders Council, and members of the State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Daniel Naanlong.

“The enthusiasm was palpable,” Bamaiyi stated. “Though it was a private visit, the National Chairman arrived in Jos with the full regalia and honor of his position, and hundreds of party supporters and members of the public were at the airport to welcome him.”

Following the welcome ceremony, Professor Yilwatda proceeded directly to a private meeting with the Plateau State Traditional Council, signaling his intention to build strong ties with key community stakeholders.

He was also expected to meet with both Christian and Muslim religious leaders before returning to Abuja later in the day.
