Fayose’s brother announces bid for Ekiti governorship.

Emmanuel Fayose, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has announced his intention to contest in the upcoming Ekiti State governorship election.

In a statement released on Friday, Fayose said his decision was driven by a commitment to revitalizing Ekiti State and steering it towards growth and development.

“I am in the race to dislodge the Oyebanji-led government. If elected, I will run an inclusive government to set Ekiti on the right path,” he stated.

Fayose’s declaration comes shortly after a meeting between former Governor Ayodele Fayose and President Bola Tinubu in Lagos, where the former governor reportedly pledged support for the incumbent’s reelection. This move has sparked criticism from PDP members in Ekiti, who view it as contrary to party interests.

Addressing the issue, Emmanuel Fayose clarified that the meeting would not impact his aspirations. “I read about the meeting in the newspapers like everyone else. It has no bearing on my ambition. My brother, as a citizen, is exercising his democratic rights, but his choices do not influence my pursuit of a better Ekiti,” he said.

Fayose also urged his supporters to remain steadfast in their quest for positive change in the state. “It’s up to the leadership of our great party to evaluate my brother’s political allegiance, whether to the PDP or APC. I call on our supporters to stay focused and resolute in driving the much-needed change in Ekiti.”
