Kaduna Makes History: Governor Uba Sani Oversees $62.8M Deal with Kuwait Fund to Educate Out-of-School Children

In a landmark move to tackle the growing problem of out-of-school children, Kaduna State has become the first beneficiary of a historic partnership between Nigeria and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED). The deal, worth $62.8 million, was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in Abuja, with Governor Uba Sani in attendance.

The agreement, which marks KFAED’s first-ever intervention in Nigeria, is aimed at supporting the Reaching Out-of-School Children (ROOSC) project in Kaduna State—a major initiative focused on providing educational access to thousands of disadvantaged children.

The MoU was officially signed by Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, and the Director General of the Kuwait Fund, Dr. Waleed Al-Bahar.

Speaking at the event, Governor Uba Sani described the partnership as a “significant breakthrough” in his administration’s commitment to inclusive education.

“This agreement brings hope to thousands of children who have been left behind. It aligns perfectly with our vision to ensure that every child in Kaduna has the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a better future,” the Governor said.

With Kaduna now leading the charge, the ROOSC project is expected to expand access to basic education, support school infrastructure, and address socio-economic barriers preventing children from enrolling in school.

This milestone reflects a growing international recognition of Kaduna State’s efforts to prioritize human capital development through education.
