Man Arrested for Killing Girlfriend in Nasarawa Charged with Homicide, Remanded in Prison

The Nasarawa State Police Command has formally charged 32-year-old Timilehin Ajayi with culpable homicide, a crime punishable by death under Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria.

The charge stems from the horrific murder of a 24-year-old Corps Member, Miss Salome Adaidu. This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan.

Ajayi was arraigned before the Nasarawa State High Court sitting in Lafia on Friday, where the court directed his remand in the Lafia Correctional Facility. The suspect will remain in custody until a formal trial date is set.

The tragic incident that claimed Miss Adaidu’s life occurred in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. Ajayi was apprehended by police operatives on Sunday, January 12, following a swift investigation into the matter.

The case has drawn widespread attention, with many calling for justice for the young Corps Member whose life was cut short in her prime. Further developments are expected as the court prepares to formally hear the case.
