Mohbad’s mother responds to Nollywood actor’s claims about the singer’s brother

Mrs. Abosede Aloba, mother of the late singer Ilerioluwa, popularly known as Mohbad, has clashed with actor Yomi Fabiyi over allegations involving Mohbad’s brother, Adura.

Fabiyi claimed in a petition filed on December 13, 2024, at the Lagos State Police Command that Adura initiated an Instagram chat, claiming to possess video evidence about Mohbad’s death and demanded ₦3 million in Bitcoin for the footage.

However, Adura denied the accusation, explaining that the message came from a friend who had purchased his old phone.

At a press conference held in Lagos, Fabiyi maintained that the messages were sent from Adura’s account and insisted he had knowledge of his brother’s death.

Mrs. Aloba, however, defended Adura, stating that he would have spoken up if he knew anything about Mohbad’s demise. She expressed frustration, accusing Fabiyi of attempting to unjustly implicate Adura.

She said, “I lost Mohbad, and I won’t lose Adura to false allegations. My son knows nothing about his brother’s death.

The person who sent the message confessed to me and apologized, saying they never expected the situation to escalate.”

Fabiyi responded, emphasizing that his concern was the content of the message, not necessarily the sender. He insisted that the message came from Adura’s account and said he couldn’t ignore the implications, especially if money had been extorted from him.

Mohbad, who died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, had left Marlian Music in February 2022. His death sparked widespread controversy, leading to investigations, arrests, and an autopsy.

The Lagos State Police Command set up a 13-member team to probe the circumstances surrounding his death, which remains a subject of public interest.
